Blending art and nature, Jean-Philippe Sonnet brings his background in graphic design and visual arts to the delicate world of bonsai, which he discovered in 2017. Initially self-taught, he refined his skills by joining Sandro Segneri’s Bonsai Creativo School in 2020, where he continues to perfect his craft.
Fascinated by Ishizuki, the rock planting style, he began creating artificial rocks in late 2022. Leveraging his expertise in plastic arts, he explored various materials and techniques to craft unique, realistic pieces, first for himself, then for his peers.
After 18 months of research and development, his creations now combine modern composite materials for their strength, lightness, and resistance to natural elements. Designed to faithfully echo natural rock formations in shape, color, and texture, his work pushes the art of Ishizuki to new heights of realism and aesthetic refinement.
