Felice Colombari

Felice Colombari has always been deeply connected to nature. His journey began in the mountains, searching for minerals, but it was in the 1990s that he discovered the art of bonsai. While visiting exhibitions, he encountered suiseki for the first time—an instant love at first sight. Driven by curiosity, he started exploring, learning where to find these unique stones. One small suiseki he saw on display led him to the renowned Giacopiane Lake, where he began his dedicated search.

For years, he roamed the mountains of Liguria, sometimes accompanied by colleagues, always seeking the perfect stones. Eventually, he ventured into crafting daiza, the wooden bases that complete suiseki by uniting stone and wood in perfect harmony. The turning point came in 2008, when, upon retiring, his search for wood led him to Franco Mauri, a skilled woodworker with a deep love for the mountains. Their shared passion sparked a friendship that became a true artistic partnership.

Together, Felice and Franco have cultivated an impressive collection, refining their craft and gaining international recognition. Their suiseki—stones presented with carefully crafted daiza—have traveled the world, carrying with them the soul of their mountainous explorations and the dedication of their craft. Today, their collaboration continues—an unbreakable bond formed through stone, wood, and an enduring love for nature.
