Discover the poetic fusion of nature and artistry with Auf Die Spitze Getrieben, a captivating sculpture by renowned German artist Wolfgang Weber. Known for his ability to breathe new life into found natural objects, Weber masterfully transforms raw materials into elegant, thought-provoking sculptures that unveil the hidden beauty of nature.
This particular piece features a striking, intricate piece of driftwood, carefully balanced on a stone slab that supports it vertically. The juxtaposition of organic fluidity and solid foundation creates a sense of tension, movement, and harmony, embodying Weber’s signature ability to elevate forgotten elements into artistic expressions of poetry and balance.
Each angle of Auf Die Spitze Getrieben tells a different story, inviting viewers to explore its natural textures, delicate lines, and sculptural presence. A true conversation piece, this sculpture bridges the gap between raw nature and refined artistry, making it a stunning addition to any contemporary space, gallery, or private collection.
Here’s the descritpion of the artist:
“Artist Harz was at work here again. For many years, this extremely interesting wood was in a reservoir in the Harz Mountains, where it was shaped into a sculpture and finally washed up on the shore. I was able to discover it there.
I think this positioning at the top is the most beautiful. But how should I attach it?
Cleverly there is a heel behind the tip. I could sink a metal rod into this – ideally so that you can’t see it from the front. Then all you have to do is drill a slanted hole into the base at the right angle. As such, wood was more suitable than stone. Luckily I had this old oak block in my filing box. It succeeded.
I simply had the title “Taken to the extreme” in mind when positioning it. In this case, something really nice came out of it. But it usually doesn’t do us any good if we do too much of a good thing.”
